Tour Update

We are very sorry to announce that Sam Parton will not be joining the band on our upcoming UK tour. As many of you know she was injured in a car accident on September 3. Unfortunately, she is not able to meet the demands of touring at this time, and needs to continue to focus on her recovery. We are sorry that Sam cannot tour with us but we intend to put on the best show possible given the circumstances. We are excited to return to the UK, and look forward to seeing you all.

Parsons Student Creates Video for The Coo Coo Bird

Parsons Student Creates Video for The Coo Coo Bird

Parsons School of Design student Brianne Bowers created this wonderful stop-motion animation video for our version of the traditional song "The Cuckoo" (which we call "The Coo Coo Bird"). She made it for her "Old Weird America" class, taught by Greil Marcus. Aren't we flattered/honoured that he plays our version of this English/American folk song for his classes. We love the video. Thanks Brianne!

THE BE GOOD TANYAS RELEASE LIMITED-EDITION, DELUXE BLUE HORSE VINYL TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS

THE BE GOOD TANYAS RELEASE LIMITED-EDITION, DELUXE BLUE HORSE VINYL TO CELEBRATE 10 YEARS

Orders Now Available.

In celebration of the 10 year anniversary of the album’s worldwide release, a deluxe limited edition 180 gram vinyl version of the album will be released on July 5, 2011, by the band’s long time label, Nettwerk Records.

This limited edition re-release includes not only all of the old favourites in their original order, but incorporates three bonus tracks. Two of these, Mule on the Mountain and Ain’t No Change, are previously unreleased tracks from the Blue Horse recording sessions, and feature founding member of the band, Jolie Holland. These songs from those early days recall the thrill of the band’s unique, unpolished sound, and their love of early American folk and blues. Jolie Holland, a key spark in the band’s early formation, along with Samantha Parton, Trish Klein, and Frazey Ford, all sing and play like they just arrived on their backporch to charm the neighbourhood. The final bonus track, Be Good Tanya, at last reveals the origins of the band’s name – residing in the wit and skill of San Francisco songwriter Obo Martin, whose songwriting inspired the band from their first rehearsal. Rather than include a cover of Obo’s song, the band chose instead to include a recording of Obo Martin himself performing the song that gave the band their name.

In addition to three bonus tracks, The Be Good Tanyas are excited to offer, as part of this special edition vinyl, a 28 page songbook that features sheet music for all of the songs from Blue Horse as well as chords and lyrics for the three bonus tracks.

The limited edition vinyl will also include a digital download card. We’re thrilled to offer this exclusive package to fans old and new who wish to commemorate this anniversary with us.

To mark this special anniversary, The Be Good Tanyas will be doing a selected run of Western live performance dates this summer. View tour dates

To Our Fans -

As many of you are aware, Sam Parton was in a car accident over Labour Day weekend. We all hoped that Sam would be well enough to travel in time for our October tour dates, but unfortunately, this proved to be optimistic. Sam is following her doctor's advice and focusing on healing and recovery at this time. She's looking forward to getting back on the road as soon as she can.

Though we realize that the band is not complete without Sam, the rest of the band (Frazey Ford, Trish Klein, John Raham and Mark Beaty) will proceed with the October tour dates as planned. We are excited to have our incredibly talented musical friends Huck Notari (Seattle) Dan Bern (NY, Sellersville, Washington DC and Toronto) and Phil Cook (Saxapahaw NC) joining us along the way as support. We will bring a great night of music to everyone, despite the circumstances. We hope to be back on the road with Sam as soon as possible.

Thanks for your continued support of us and all the love and wishes you have been sending to Sam for a speedy recovery.

Love,

The Be Good Tanyas
